When someone is looking to buy, sell or even just get some information and knowledge on catamarans in general and they start searching for help online, they are faced with all sorts of claims from brokers about what they should do and what they should buy. We have only one piece of advice for these people: do your homework before you do anything else! Anyone and everyone can claim they are the best, the biggest, the most knowledgeable blah blah blah and in that department, we are no different from anyone else in making those claims. Since our formation in 1989 The Catamaran Company’s direction has been clear….. catamarans! This single-minded focus over the last 35 years has helped us to become the world's largest retailer of new and used catamarans but more importantly, it has also helped us become the most valued resource for anything related to catamarans. It is safe to state that there is no other company in the catamaran marketplace who have sold products from so many different manufacturers, so The Catamaran Company is the only brokerage in the world who are truly experts in the catamaran field. Catamaran dealers are restricted by the manufacturers they represent to exclusively represent only 1 specific brand so the advice they are giving you is intended to get you to buy their specific product only. Our 1989 inception started with the representation and US importation of catamarans by Jeantot Marine, | |

later to become Privilege Catamarans and within 3 years we were their largest dealer worldwide. With the catamaran market growing exponentially, we soon discovered that as beautiful as they were, Privilege catamarans were not for everyone and some of our clients wanted a faster, lighter, more economical type of catamaran so we also took on the representation of Fountaine Pajot who at that time were the largest catamaran manufacturer in the world. | |

Remember that back in those days, none of the current dealers were even in the catamaran business so we were the true pioneers and learning as we went and those sure were exciting times!
Around that time Lagoon had just gone into bankruptcy and their assets had been purchased by Groupe Beneteau. We were asked to also take on the representation of Lagoon which we agreed to do. | |

Within a few years The Catamaran Company had become the world’s largest dealer for Lagoon, who by then had also become the world's largest manufacturer of catamarans. Lagoon had over 90 dealers in | |

every major market and country in the world, but The Catamaran Company was their # 1 dealer more times than any other dealer. Consider this statistic: during their tenure as a Lagoon dealer, The Catamaran Company sold more new Lagoons than every other Lagoon dealer in the US combined! | |

In addition, over the years some of our clients wanted to buy a brand that we were not a dealer for and they asked us to represent them in purchasing a catamaran from that brand so we have also sold new boats from manufacturers like Bali, Dean, PDQ, Matrix, Leopard and Nautitech. Add into the equation that we were the world’s largest dealer for Gemini Catamarans who still to this day produced more US built catamarans than any other manufacturer with over 1,200 built in Annapolis, MD and still sailing throughout the world. | |

Our experience in representing our clients building a catamaran is not limited to catamarans between 34 and 55 feet. As an example, Sunreef is the foremost manufacturer of large luxury catamarans in the world today …………. and we have built more Sunreef catamarans for our clients than any other US broker! Having built and delivered 5 Sunreef 80’s from Sunreef’ s factory in Poland to our clients since 2020, we are currently overseeing the construction of a new Sunreef 88 under construction in Sunreef’ s new factory in Dubai. | |
