SMOOCH – 1992 Norseman 40
For the last five years, the owners of "Smooch" have sailed full time through the Florida Keys and the Bahamas.

Lagniappes
"Cruising is an aggregate of often small and unexpected moments permanently burned into our memory: images, smells, feelings, sounds. In Louisiana, they call these lagniappes... small unexpected pleasures.
Most of our cruising in the last five years has been in the Bahamas with our two dogs aboard the 40 foot Norseman "Smooch." Thus our most recent lagniappes tend to focus on things like Freddie Van Breugel's amazing curried conch chowder in Nassau and the middle-of-nowhere feel of the Jumentos and Conception Island, a perfect 18 knot reach down Exuma Sound. The list is goes on and on. Here's a sampling:
Family Island Regatta, Exumas.
Basically an excuse to winter in Georgetown and use it as a base for exploring. The regatta lasts a week and brings the best Bahamian sailors and boats for a great series.
Freddie Van Breugel
A very crazy Dutchman makes a wonderful curried conch chowder in his sophisticated restaurant on Charlotte Street in Nassau... the main reason we always stop in Nassau on our way to the Exumas:
Shroud Cay, Exuma Land and Sea Park
One of the most beautiful cays in the world accessed easily with "Smooch's" 36" draft. Also one of the best hurricane holes in the Bahamas.
Stocking Island, Exumas.
A golden retriever, a ball, a pristine beach that stretches for miles. And those glorious waves to play in. Pure joy.
Church Ladies, Georgetown, Great Exuma.
By and large, Bahamians are devout, unfailingly polite and always charming. These women, in the middle of their bible studies, are not quite sure whether they want to say hello to our golden retriever, Checkers."
