Becoming one of the top catamaran brokers in the world came from a combination of years of experience delivering, selling, sailing, servicing, and repairing catamarans of all shapes and sizes.
Brian comes from the great sailing state of …………… Indiana! He started his boating experience at a very young age and was given his first boat at age twelve. At eighteen he had saved up enough money to actually partner with his brother Brent to buy their first real boat which they enjoyed for many years.
While in college he was a member of the Wright State Sailing Team racing everything from Lazers to FJ’s. He then raced competively in Chicago on a Frers 43. After relocating to Florida he worked and crewed on many boats around South Florida and the Caribbean, learning all aspects of yacht maintenance, including electrical and mechanical. Within two years he received his 100 ton USCG license and spent the next 12 months cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean. Upon returning to Florida he began working shore side on boats with Tom Winther Marine focusing on new yacht installation and preparation including items like bow thruster installations, fiberglass repairs and electronics installations.
In order to ensure he did not spend too much time on land, he filled his spare time captaining deliveries for his customers. His travels took him up and down the East Coast of the United States, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Western Europe. He delivered everything from small monohull sailboats to multi-hulls and mega yachts. He has seen and worked on the latest in technology to the most basic and archaic forms of ships systems.
After extensive study and work application, he moved on to boat building, working on a custom project in Daytona, Florida. Here he learned all aspects of the boat building process and a complete understanding of yacht manufacturing. Upon the completion of the project he returned to Fort Lauderdale and took on a role of marine technician for a charter company, learning yet another aspect of the yachting business and many different yacht systems.
After two years he became licensed, insured and started a marine business, Brian Hermann Marine. He began servicing the Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Keys, and Palm Beach areas. Within 12 months 90 percent of his business was doing work for The Catamaran Company and included everything from surveys and sea trials to installations of the latest in communications technology and electronics.
Realizing that the future lay in catamarans, Brian joined The Catamaran Company as their service manager where he managed the delivery, warranty, after-sales installation, maintenance, dockage, and surveys and sea trials for over a 150 boats annually. With this vast background Brian was then asked to join the brokerage team at the catamaran company where he has gained recognition as one of the top brokers.
If you have ever wondered about the quality of the boat you’re buying or if you want to make sure your broker knows the specialties of the different manufacturers, rest assured that Brian has probably already seen it in some form or other. Anyone can show you all of the boats available but it takes years of experience to gain the knowledge and skills to guide you through and protect you during the buying and selling process.
Brian specializes in Lagoon, Privilege, Fountaine Pajot, Robertson Caine and Voyage Catamarans, to name a few. He loves everything about boats and this will be very evident once you have had the opportunity to speak or meet with him. Put his many years of experience to work for you today! |
